WHY USE THE SELFCHECK URINE INFECTION TEST?
The SELFCheck Urine Infection test is ideal for detecting urine infections. Urine infections are a common bacterial infection which involves the lower urinary tract, including the bladder and urethra.
Almost half of all women experience this infection at least once in their lifetime.
WHAT IS THE SELFCHECK URINE INFECTION TEST?
This home test kit allows the user to screen for certain chemicals that could be present or absent in the urine; the presence of which can suggest an infection.
The test kit consists of 2 test strips which monitors 3 test parameters – proteins, nitrites and leukocytes.
The test strip is immersed in urine collected first thing in the morning, ensuring all 3 test pads are covered by the urine.
The test strip is then removed and held vertically to drain excess urine.
After a few minutes, the result will then appear in the form of colour changes to the 3 test pads.
The greater the colour changes, the higher the level of abnormal chemicals present in the urine.
WHO IS THIS TEST FOR?
Anyone can use the test, but it is more useful for women who are more susceptible to urine infections.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD URINE BE TESTED FOR INFECTION?
Urine should be tested if the person is suffering from any of the following symptoms:
• frequent need to urinate
• pain when passing urine
• cloudy urine with an odour
• pain in loins
• fever or chills
